Inauguration of 60th National Conference-2023 of ‘Indian Associaton of Physiotherapy’ under the chairmanship of CM

Gandhinagar, Saturday: Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi virtually joining the Indian Association of Physiotherapists National Conference-2023 organized in Ahmedabad with the intermediate idea of Workout for Fit India said, Physiotherapists help
people of all ages, whether children, youth or adults, to deal with various physical problems. He said that physiotherapists work to save the patient from sudden accident not only from physical distress but also from mental trauma. The central government has
given the biggest gift to physiotherapists across the country in by recognizing physiotherapy as a profession. For which he was waiting for 75 years. He said that now physiotherapists have got a new identity along with increasing respect. Apart from this,
Physiotherapists have also been linked with Ayushyaman Bharat Yojana. Various such measures by the government have made it easier for physiotherapists to treat patients abroad, including in India.

Our ‘inner strength’ is stronger than any problem. This motivation of physiotherapy becomes equally useful in governance. Bank accounts to the poor, toilet facility, Nal Se Jal Yojana to the countrymen are realizing social security. As a result,
today the citizens of the country are venturing to fulfill their dreams. Stating that the idea of self-reliance is at the root of physiotherapy, he added that public participation is seen in campaigns like Beti Bachao-Beti Padhao, Swachh Bharat Mission, Ayushman
Bharat Yojana, Fit India Movement to make development a mass movement. With the growing sports infrastructure in small towns, the role of physiotherapists is also becoming more important. The Prime Minister appealed to all the physiotherapists and said that
you should educate the countrymen for ‘right posture, right habits, right exercise’. Simultaneously learning yoga along with physiotherapy will speed up the treatment.

On this occasion, the Prime Minister also appealed to physiotherapists to share knowledge through social media, inspiring them to document their experiences. Treatment of the elderly worldwide is becoming complex and challenging. There are increased
opportunities for yoga and physiotherapy treatment through telemedicine. He said that telemedicine has also been very useful in recent crises caused by earthquakes in Turkey and Syria.

Addressing the inaugural session of the 60th National Conference organized by the Indian Association of Physiotherapists, Gujarat Chief Minister Shri Bhupendra Patel said that Guests arriving in Gujarat from other states of the country and abroad
are welcomed on the land of Mahatma Gandhiji and Sardar Patel and the most popular leader of the world, Narendra Modi. He said that all Gujaratis are proud of organizing the 60th National Conference of Indian Association of Physiotherapy in Gujarat. He said
that under the leadership of Prime Minister Shri Narendrabhai Modi, the country is celebrating Azadi ka Amrutkaal in which it has got the chairmanship of G20, which is a matter of pride for the entire country.

Under the leadership of Prime Minister Shri Narendrabhai Modi, India is chairing the G20 with the spirit of ‘Vasudhaiva Kutumpakam’. Vasudhaiva kutumkam means the whole world is one family and a family can be happy only when the family members are
healthy and fit.

It is worth to mention here that, the two-day conference has been organized in Ahmedabad. During the two days, doctors and experts in the field of physiotherapy will hold consultations on various topics. Along with this, a demonstration of current
technology and machinery in the field of Physiotherapy is also held.

Nowadays people’s lifestyles have changed, stress and sitting for long periods of time have led to problems including spasms, knee pain, muscle pain. In that, the importance of physiotherapy to keep the body fit has increased. Physiotherapy was
not so popular in the past. 20 years ago there were only 8 physiotherapy colleges and 240 seats in Gujarat. As a result of the visionary leadership of the government, today there are 84 colleges and 4,390 seats. Thus, the Gujarat government is also realizing
the importance of physiotherapy and moving forward.

Shri Jagdish Vishwakarma, Minister of State for Cottages and Small Industries and Cooperation was present in the conference. Apart from this, following the Prime Minister’s call, IAP President Mr. Sanjeev Jha expressed the resolve to set up Centers
for the treatment of elders in 33 districts within 6 months. On this occasion, President of World Physiotherapy Dr. Ima Stokes and CEO Dr. Jonathan expressed their gratitude for the invitation. A large number of physiotherapists, subject experts and students
from across the country attended the conference.
