CM inaugurates Science Carnival 2023 from Science City in Ahmedabad

State Government’s Science Technology Department and Google will train 10,000 people in the next 3 weeks

Gandhinagar, Tuesday: Gujarat Chief Minister Shri Bhupendra Patel inaugurated Science Carnival-2023 from Science City in Ahmedabad on the occasion of National Science Day. He expressed his commitment to work in collaboration with renowned companies
like Google to equip the next generation with the next generation technology. State Government’s Science Technology Department and Google will train about 10,000 people in next 3 weeks.

The CM said that, through this Science City, we can see Prime Minister Shri Narendrabhai Modi’s vision of leading development and building world class facilities in Gujarat. He proudly said that, Science City started by Prime Minister to inculcate
the aptitude in science and technology in children from an early age has today become a world class science city. In order to develop the interest of children and youth in science and technology, the Prime Minister has promoted modern and up-to-date education
in the new education policy.

Not only that, this whole decade he has made a decade-teched of technology. The Chief Minister added that the present government is also moving in the direction of establishing Science Centers at district headquarters following the same tradition.

Mentioning that the state government has allocated Rs. 2193 crore for science and technology in this year’s budget, CM said that today’s era is of science-technology, space science, artificial intelligence. CM expressed his hope that the Science
Carnival-2023 would promote the spirit of inquiry among the students through various workshops ranging from Akash Darshan. We need to create a knowledge based society in the coming days by providing the facilities of a science city like science city to the
children of villages.

Speaking on the occasion Chief Secretary Shri. Raj Kumar said that India was under slavery when Shri C. V. Raman invented the Raman theory whose research we have gathered to celebrate. He said that the country has been progressing in every field
since independence. Gujarat has also set target to lead Gujarat in the field of science and technology. It is the aim of the government to build a science center and sports complex in every district under the guidance of the Chief Minister to develop the interest
of students in sports along with science.

ISRO Director Shri. Nilesh Desai said that Science Carnival 2023 is truly a grand festival of science. It is truly commendable that Gujarat Science City is organizing such interesting programs in the direction of inculcating interest in science
in the next generation of the state and providing a suitable platform to students and science lovers through the approach of fun with knowledge.

Secretary of the Department of Science and Technology Shri Vijay Nehra said, an initiative of ‘Science Carnival 2023’ is taking place today at Science City. Our state ranks at the forefront in many sectors like agriculture, animal husbandry and
manufacturing. Due to which, today in the state there is great progress and development in the field of science and technology. 12 lakh people have visited Science City in the year 2022. While 2 lakh people have visited Science City in a single month of January-2023,
it proves the growing awareness and positive attitude towards science in the state, he added.

More than 5 lakh registrations have been done for the STEM quiz to be held by Science City in the coming days, while South Asia’s biggest Robofest is also to be held here, where prizes worth crores will be awarded to the winners.

Mayor of Ahmedabad Shri. Kiritbhai, Advisor of GUJCOST Shri. Narottam Sahu, Children-teachers from various schools, invitees and officials of science and technology department were also present.

More than 1 lakh students have been registered in the 3 categories of Exhibitor, Participant and Volunteer in Science Carnival 2023 organized for five days. Free entry will be given to people and students of science and technology field here during
the science carnival.
